I am inspired by vibrant yellow and purple hues this wedding season. Yellow and Purple compliment each other perfectly and make a great choice for a Spring or Summer wedding. So I have put together a yellow and purple wedding inspiration board to help inspire you! Enjoy and happy wedding planning!
I came across a great idea for a flower girl while perusing the webpage of a bride who had found inspiration for her wedding alter in a blog article that I wrote! The pictures below are from her wedding and are fabulous! I just love the picture of the flower girl carrying a scroll that announces “Here Comes The Bride”. It is such a cute idea that I wanted to share it here.
I have also included a picture of her wedding alter and a few other pictures from her wedding biography because her orange, pink and green wedding color scheme was simply fabulous! I was so excited to see pictures from a wedding where the bride found an inspiration in an article on this blog! Enjoy and Happy Wedding Planning!
A hot color choice for 2010 weddings is Grey! Grey is a great substitution for the traditional brown or black color accent. When selecting your invitations simply use grey in lieu of black or brown for a very modern result. Visit www.theclassicinvitation.com to design the perfect invitation for your wedding. When pared with the pastel colors that were popular for 2009 weddings (think lime or aqua) grey gives your weddings color scheme a fresh twist for 2010.
If you are looking for a color scheme for your wedding or you haven’t yet decided, consider royal purple and grey. The top wedding designers have some fabulous royal purple and grey dresses and shoes in their 2010 collections. Grey and royal purple compliment each other perfectly and both are very trendy colors this season.
A great idea for eco-conscious couples: Plant a tree! The tree symbolizes your relationship. It will grow with your marriage and family. It will also help to reduce the earth’s carbon load and provide your future family with shade and oxygen! What a fabulous way to symbolize the love you share! Some couples pour sand into a vase. Others light candles to symbolize their union. Why not plant a tree? Trees symbolize strength and life through the oxygen they provide, they are also constant and steady, they give back and ask for nothing that nature doesn’t provide and are a growing legacy. If you don’t have space in your own yard, why not donate one to your town or park in honor of your wedding? Great links for planting a tree in honor of your wedding: www.irishoakforests.com , www.arborday.org , www.begreennow.com , www.treegivers.com .
Here is a great tip: On your 10th anniversary (or once the tree is large enough) carve your initials into the trunk of your tree! It can become a great tradition for future generations.
When should I mail my wedding invitations? Wedding Invitations should be mailed 6 – 8 weeks prior to the wedding.
Do I need an inner and an outer envelope? No. The use of two envelopes is an out dated tradition which is out of step with environmentally conscious wedding planning.
How far in advance should I place my wedding invitation order? When ordering custom designed wedding invitations, plan to place your order 4 – 6 months prior to the wedding to allow plenty of time for design, production and delivery. But as with everything else in life, the unexpected occurs and we are always happy to try and accomodate rush orders.
We are a gay couple. Is your company gay friendly? Yes! We are happy to design invitations for any couple. Visit www.theclassicinvitation.com .
What type of wording should I use for my wedding invitation? Although the wording on your invitation is ultimately a personal choice there are a few guide lines depending on the type of wedding that you are having. For examples visit www.theclassicinvitation.com/samplewording.aspx .
How do I choose the date for my reply/rsvp cards? First check with your caterer to find out what date they require the final head count by. You will want to allow time to make phone calls to guests who failed to return their reply card. So you will want to choose a date that is approximately 2 – 3 weeks prior to the wedding.
I am having an adult only reception. How do I let my guests know that children are not invited to the reception? On the bottom of the invitation you can simply say “Adult only reception immediately following the ceremony”. If you are planning to not invite children to the entire wedding address the invitations only to the adults. You can also add wording on the invitation and reply card.
Can I add a personal photograph to my wedding invitation? Of course! We are happy to design an invitation that incorporates your photo. We can also add photos to save-the-date cards, engagement announcements, wedding programs and more!
How many invitations should I order? You should plan to order more that you think you need. We recommend at least 15 – 25 extra wedding invitation sets. This will allow for late additions, b-list invites, lost invitations, invitations that are accidently damaged while preparing to mail them, et cetera.
Style Alert!! One of the hottest wedding trends for 2010 is a vintage themed wedding. Big bands, pearls and diamonds, antique cars, top hats, bird-cage veils, brooches and lockets, hair and make up, vintage style dresses and tuxedos create the look. Vintage weddings are all about glamour and elegance. I love the 1940’s wedding cake featured in the picture in the third row below, simply stunning. Looking for vintage jewelry? Dig into your Grandma’s jewelry drawer, you may just find the perfect vintage items that you are seeking! For the groom, think Fred Astaire with a classic black pinstripe tuxedo with black and white wing tip shoes. For the bride, a simple red lip makes a grand statement when pared with a vintage style wedding dress. And don’t forget the bridesmaids! A vintage locket makes a great gift idea for your girls and will look beautiful with vintage style bridesmaid dresses.

Easy ways to make eco-chic decisions for your wedding include: Organic food: Plan an dinner menu that features 100% organic foods. Hire a cater or chef that can create a delicious organic dinner for your guests. Green stationery: Choose recycled or cotton paper for your wedding invitations. Add natural embellishments such as dried flowers or natural fiber (cotton, silk ) ribbon instead of synthetic materials such as satin ribbon or rhinestones. The Classic Invitation offers a variety of options for eco friendly wedding stationery. We also are proud to offer beautiful recyled and FSC certified papers and are happy to say that we have our paper delivered to our studio using carbon neutral shipping! Visit www.theclassicinvitation.com to request more details on “green” wedding invitations. Center pieces: Use potted plants such as seasonal flowers, sculpted bushes or herbs that can be replanted by your guests after the wedding is over. Favors: A great favor are small trees that can be planted by your guests to help reduce the planets carbon load. Visit the National Arbor Day Foundation’s website to order bulk trees and support a great non-profit organization. Plantamemory.com also offers a great selection of eco wedding favors. Gift Ideas: A great idea is adopting an Olive tree in the name of the couple, they get a bottle of olive oil from the orchard and your gift supports an olive orchard www.texashillcountryoliveco.com. Create a wedding registry for organic linens and household goods that are made from bamboo and other sustainable materials.
Furniture for your Wedding Reception: Comfortable gathering areas for wedding pictures and lounging during the reception have become very trendy for 2009 weddings and is sure to be hot look for 2010 weddings…couches, chaise lounges, pillows, ottomans and even beds create a chic, relaxed environment for your reception. Canopies help to create an intimate setting for an outdoor wedding reception. They also help to provide relief from the sun during a daytime reception.
Purple!! This wedding season Purple is sure to be the “it” color! It is after all the color of royalty and what bride doesn’t want to feel like a Queen on her wedding day! The most fabulous find this season is the absolutely gorgeous purple Vera Wang wedding dress featured in the picture below. It is a great alternative to the traditional white or ivory wedding gown and is sure to be a show stopper! Or if the purple wedding dress is too bold for your taste, why not try purple bridal shoes? When choosing flowers for your wedding purple roses are my absolute favorite! If you have never smelled a purple rose it has a fragrance like no other rose. Choosing purple roses for your wedding is truly a decision that you will never regret.
All White Wedding: An all white wedding is a chic theme for 2010. In your wedding invitations ask guests to wear all white attire to the wedding. Request formal or informal attire based on the type of wedding you have chosen to have. Select white flowers, white linens, white center pieces, white isle runners and even white stationery to complete the look.
Colorful Bridal Shoes! A trend that we are really digging for the 2010 wedding season are colorful shoes! Instead of the traditional white or ivory bridal shoes to match the wedding dress, colorful shoes are making a big statement this season. Express your personality with colorful heels while still honoring tradition in a classic wedding dress. My favorite heels are the Zebra print Manolo Blahnik’s. The best reason for selecting a non-white bridal shoe is that because it is your wedding shoe you can splurge a little more than you would on a normal pair of shoes and with fabulous heels like these you can actually wear them again!

This season features a vibrant fruit inspired color palate. Lime, tangerine and watermelon are sure to stand out as the ”it” colors for 2009 weddings. Beautiful, bold stationery is a great way to incorporate this seasons color palate into your wedding. Accent your venue with programs, place cards, table card numbers, menus, drink menus, station cards, favor tags and much more to splash color through out your wedding and reception.
Popular for the 2009 wedding season is the use of a monochromatic color scheme that utilizes varations of the color selected to create a dramatic effect. For example choose from different shades of the color in different textured papers like linen or cotton and finishes such as matte or metallic paper to create a stunning final product. Finish the invitation with a coordinating embellishment such as a ribbon or rhinestone design.
