What are monograms typically used for?

One of our clients recently asked: “What are monograms typically used for?”  So I thought I would answer that question here for everyone.  Monograms have a wide variety of uses and come in any style, from classic to modern.  Typical uses for printing monograms include save-the-date cards, invitations and stationery, programs, table card numbers, seating cards and thank you cards.  Including a host of other printed options!  Another popular (and great!) use for a monogram is to display it on the dance floor or wall of your venue.  A fun use (and less expensive alternative to a photo booth) is to print the monogram on a back drop to use as a step and repeat for guests to take pictures in front of at the wedding reception.  Digital uses for a monogram include wedding websites, logos and even in email correspondence it can be inserted into a picture or used as a picture itself.  After the wedding is over use the monogram file to order/create custom monogrammed towels or sheets!  The options for using a monogram are really endless.  The Classic Invitation offers both custom designed monograms and personalized pre-designed monograms.  To order visit  http://theclassicinvitation.com/monograms.aspx.

Planning the Ultimate Valentine’s Day Sweetheart Themed Wedding!

Valentine’s Day is a celebration of Love!  And lends perfectly to planning a lavish, love filled wedding.  And it doesn’t necessarily have to take place on Valentines Day, the theme is perfect for a wedding anytime!  All though for you Bride’s that do choose Valentine’s Day as the date, be sure to remind your groom that the Wedding Anniversary and Valentine’s are two separate events requiring two separate gifts, LOL!

Talk about Red Roses!  This is a to die for wedding reception.  Truly the ultimate Valentine’s Day extravaganza! And I love that even though the flowers are extravagant, the decor still remains simple.  The rose is just simply beautiful and provides the ultimate decor in of itself.  On a budget?  Try the idea below!

For a smaller budget, get bang for your buck with this table set up.  You still get the high impact wow factor and the beauty of the roses.  And can you imagine how wonderful the table will smell!  Truly a night to remember.  On a tight budget?  Order silk rose petals, still beautiful for a fraction of the cost of real rose petals!

A Sweetheart table for a Sweetheart themed wedding, a perfect choice.  It’s intimate and chic.  It will also allow you and your bride or groom a few moments of privacy during your wedding.  And other than the first dance, it may turn out to be the only moments of privacy you get!

Instead of a guest book a great idea is to have your guests fill out Valentines Day Cards.  Create a custom Valentine’s Day Box (à la elementary school with an upscale twist) for your guests to deposit their Valentine’s into.  Order custom Valentine’s for your guests to fill out at www.theclassicinvitation.com.

I just love this bridesmaids dress!  For those brides having your Valentine’s day wedding in a warm area, what a beautiful dress.  Simply stunning and how perfect for a sweetheart wedding!  It also coordinates perfectly with this seasons wedding color palate.  Definitely my top pick.

The perfect floral center pieces to coordinate your Valentine’s Day themed wedding with this seasons gorgeous color palate.  And this floral color palate can be achieved to accommodate almost any budget.  And the vintage look of the vases is just beautiful.  And for a do it your self bride a dollar store replica of the vases will achieve the look without breaking the bank.

What Valentine’s Day wedding would be complete with out Valentine’s Day Candy?  Create and expensive looking display with out the high cost for you do it yourself brides.  And a fun activity for your guests!

Planning a Carousel Themed Wedding Reception

Recently I edited the photography (yes, on the side when I’m not busy designing wedding invitations I take freelance editing jobs) for the most beautiful wedding that was held at a historic carousel house.  What a fun themed wedding!  And talk about the perfect backdrop for your wedding reception.  The historic carousel house offers a timeless feel.  It’s a location that has been a source of laughter and enjoyment through the years.  I love the idea of starting a marriage at a place that has provided so much happiness to so many people.  What a perfect venue for celebrating a wedding.  And because of the elaborate nature of the carousel simple decor is all that is needed to create a luxurious reception.  And the photography is simply gorgeous.  I simply love the pictures of the wedding party on the carousel horses. Enjoy!

Winter Wonderland Wedding 2011 Inspiration

I love winter weddings!  And your budget is bound to love it too as winter is considered off-season in the wedding world.  Which means your winter wonderland wedding can be lavish without breaking the bank.  To me, winter invokes warm feelings of family coming together to celebrate, which is as perfect for a wedding as it is a holiday celebration.  Here is my winter wonderland wedding inspiration for 2011! Enjoy and I hope your as inspired as I have been.

I love the way the feathers on this wedding gown mimic the look of a fur stole.  It is the perfect translation of this seasons feather trend for a winter wedding!  Oh so elegant.

Choose a venue with fireplaces!  A simple way to enhance the atmosphere of your winter wonderland is to choose a venue that naturally lends to that feeling.  This picture is from Chase Court in Maryland.  “Chase Court is an 1879 Gothic, former-Episcopal parish house which is now privately owned and made available for wedding and commitment ceremonies and receptions.”  What a great winter venue!

A lavish invite for a lavish affair!  Set the tone for your winter wedding with an invitation that lets your guests know that your wedding will be something to remember.  Invitation by www.theclassicinvitation.com.

I love the way snow photographs at night!  What an artistic natural backdrop and great winter wonderland venue.  Photo by: http://www.winterweddingphotography.com

I love this photo concept.  I would love to design a save the date with this concept (the ideas are brewing)!  What a beautiful way to let your guests know that you are planning a winter wedding!  Photo by: http://www.chicagoillinoisweddingphotography.com/

Create your own step and repeat for the red carpet effect at your winter wonderland wedding.  A photo backdrop a fun activity for guests and a really chic idea!  It is also a great money-saving alternative to a photo booth! I love it.

Elegant and inexpensive!  My two favorite words.  What a great way to display your table numbers.  And the simple design lends to any color scheme.  You can order this fabulous find through: http://sandiegoweddinginsider.theaspenshops.com/

2011 Wedding Trends

As a wedding invitation designer I am constantly researching wedding trends in order to provide my clients with current designs and looks that are in step with what is occurring in the fashion world.  Here is my list of this years hot wedding trends.  And let me tell you I am so excited with what I am seeing!  I love the feel of a vintage 20’s and 30’s themed wedding and am so thrilled by the vintage floral and art deco designs that are showing up this season.  I hope you will be as inspired as I have been!  Enjoy…

Jeweled Hair Clips.  I am in love with the vintage feel that this look creates for 2011 weddings.  With a 20’s and 30’s vibe this trend is a stunner!  Be on the look out for bird-cage veils to complete the look.

I love this photographer! Contact www.laurasofiaphotography.com

Also sure to be an instant classic for 2011 are the wedding gowns coming down the runways for this season featuring elegant Tulle (Yes, Tulle!) overlays.  I am delighted with the effect (and can’t wait to translate this trend into an invitation)!

Feathers!  Watch for feathers in center pieces, hair pieces, wedding dresses and invitations and stationery.  This trend has been growing since Carrie Bradshaw donned a bird in the first Sex in the City movie.  Hot this season is the Peacock feather with the elegant feel that it inspires.  Create your own custom feather inspired wedding invitation at www.theclassicinvitation.com.

Color trends for 2011 weddings include bright tropical and jewel toned colors. Pantone has released its Color of the year for 2011.  Honeysuckle!  It’s the most gorgeous shade of pink and you’re sure to love it as much as I do.

Wedding Invitation Trends:

Art Deco! I love all that is vintage (can you tell?) and am excited to be able to design invitations that suit this trend.  Looking for an art deco invitation?  Contact me, we will have a blast coordinating on a design.  www.theclassicinvitation.com

Boho Chic: Beautiful floral patterns with a mod vintage vibe.  Simple, elegant and classic.  Inspired by this trend I’ve designed a couple of wedding invitations for you to enjoy.

Large Ornate Monograms:  Monograms designed using an ornate typeface is a trend that as a designer is turning into one of my favorites this wedding season!  A monogrammed invitation is a classic design and with an ornate font it adds an elegant twist.  This trend doesn’t apply only to your stationery.  You can also purchase a digital file of your monogram to project on your venue’s walls and dance floor!  Just ask me!

Eco Chic:  Formal Invitations can be eco-friendly!  The Classic Invitation offers recycled and eco-friendly paper and envelopes for your invitation designs.  We also purchase our paper from a Forest Stewardship Council certified distributor that operates with 100% Green E-certified wind power.  And by purchasing American paper and designing and producing our invitations in the USA we are reducing emissions associated with importing and shipping (and supporting the American economy!).

Venues:  A great way to save money (and keep the party going!) is to rent a home or a mansion for the week or weekend depending on your budget.  I recently attended a friend’s wedding at a gorgeous estate.  They were able to rent the estate for a week at a fraction of the cost of a traditional wedding!  And was it fabulous!  There was the main mansion, a guest house, a gazebos that housed the band and dance floor, indoor pool, and a natural spring feed pond with boating, fishing and swimming (I even swam in the pond it was refreshing).  It was quite the extravaganza.  It was private, elegant and just lovely.  Check the pictures out!
